Cat Notebook and Pencil Holder

4 ply worsted weight yarn 2 oz. gold, small amount black.
Crochet hook size G6
Scraps of black, green and pink felt.
Small amount of stuffing.
Notepad: 3" x 5".
16" from head to tail.
Body: ( make 2 ): With gold, ch 2.
Rnd 1: 6 sc in 2nd ch from hook, do not sl st to join. Continue working in a spiral, marking beg of each rnd.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around. ( 12 sc ).
Rnd 3: * Sc in next sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 18 sc ).
Rnd 4: * Sc in next 2 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 24 sc ).
Rnd 5: * Sc in next 3 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 30 sc ).
Rnd 6: * Sc in next 4 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 36 sc ).
Rnd 7: * Sc in next 5 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 42 sc ).
Rnd 8: * Sc in next 6 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 48 sc ).
Rnd 9: * Sc in next 7 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 54 sc ).
Rnd 10: * Sc in next 8 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 60 sc ).
Rnd 11: * Sc in next 9 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around. ( 66 sc ).
Rnd 12: * Sc in next 12 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around, join and fasten off. ( 72 sc ).
Assemble Body: Place 2 pieces tog with wrong sides facing and working through both thickness', join gold, ch 1, * sc in next 11 sc, 2 sc in next sc * rep from * around, stuffing lightly before closing circle. Tack-stitch lightly once through center of both pieces.
Head: ( make 2 ): Work same as Body though Rnd 9, sl st in next sc to join. Fasten off. Sc 2 pieces tog inc 6 sc evenly spaced as before, stuffing lightly and tacking in same way.
Ears: Row 1: With right side facing, join gold in any sc on outside edge of Head, ch 1, sc in next 5 sc, turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, dec 1 sc in first 2 sts, sc in next 3 sc, turn. ( 4 sc ).
Rows 3-5: Rep Row 2 ( 1 sc remains at end of last row ). Fasten off. Join gold in 8th sc to the left of first Ear and make a 2nd Ear same as first.
Trim : Join gold into Head at right bottom corner of one Ear, sc evenly up Eat, work 2 sc at tip, sc evenly down other side, sl st into Head. Fasten off and repeat for other Ear.
Join Head and Body: Sew center bottom edge of Head to Body across 2 + 1/4".
Notebook Strap: With gold, ch 21.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. ( 20 sc ).
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in each sc across. Fasten off. Fit Strap across upper part of Body and sew ends to outside edge of Body, working through both Body pieces to secure.
Pencil Holder: With gold, ch 11.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in each ch across, turn. ( 10 sc ).
Rows 2 - 6: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Fasten off. Sew long edges of piece tog forming a cylinder. Sew cylinder centered across neck seam as shown in photo.
Paw: ( make 4 ): Beg at toe with gold, ch 2.
Rnds 1-3: Rep Rnds 1-3 of Body. ( 18 sc ).
Rnds 4-5: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 6P: ( Sc in next 4 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts * rep from * around. ( 15 sc ).
Rnds 7=8: Sc in each sc around.
Rnd 9: * Sc in next 3 sc, dec 1 sc in next 2 sts * rep from * around, join with a sl st. ( 12 sc ). Fasten off. Flatten Paw and with black make 3 toe divisions on toe end of each Paw as in photo. Stuff each Paw lightly and sew bottom edges closes. Position Paws and sew to Body.
Tail: ( make 2 ): With gold, ch 41.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next 24 sc, 2 sc in each of next 5 ch, sc in rem 10 ch, turn. ( 44 sc ).
Rows 2-3: Ch 1, sc in each sc across, turn. Place Tail pieces tog and with gold, working through both thickness', sc both pieces tog, stuffing lightly. Sew straight edge of Tail to center back bottom of Body.
Face: Trace patterns for facial features, and cut out in felt. Assemble as in photo.
Whiskers: Cut a piece of 4 ply black yarn approx. 9" long and run through center of face just below center point. Finish off as in photo. Attach a gold yarn loop at top back center of Head for hanger.
